Kites was formed originally as the drama group of the North Stockport Girl Guides but over the years gained members from outside the guiding community. Eventually in the late 1980's it became a stand-alone organisation with the name Kites (Keep In Touch Entertainment Society) linked to Lancashire Hill Sunday School on Sandy Lane, Heaton Norris, Stockport which is now the home for all our rehearsals and meetings. Rehearsals start in September usually on Thursday evenings.

Our Mission

Kites is intended to give the children of Stockport a chance to take part in a theatrical production, to learn singing and dance and to meet to rehearse without the cost of a subscription to a drama school. Our adult members also enjoy the "challenge" of a stage production and whilst we do strive for a good quality result - we also try and have some fun along the way!

We have had a float in the Stockport Carnival for several years, see the 2008 pictures here:- Carnival 2008, the 2009 photos here:- Carnival 2009, the 2010 photos here:- Carnival 2010 and a few 2011 photos here:- Carnival 2011. We had a fantastic day and won our category in 2015, here are a few pictures:- Carnival_2015

Stockport does not have a carnival any more so we have decided to host a summer show at the Triangle instead - please see our Facebook page for more details.

We moved to our new home for performances at Compass Point, Nangreave Road, Heaviley, SK2 6DQ in 2013.

Due to Covid-19, our show planned for February 2021 was cancelled and the same happened in February 2022 -Puss in Boots Panto 2022- was ready to go when Covid struck again.

We produced a special show for 2023 - "Kites Through the Decades Past and present" which was a great success.

Now we're fully back! Our traditional style Panto returns in February 2024 with Dick Whittington produced by Amy Hibbert. See more details here Panto 2024
